Cancer Fighter Scholarship
The Cancer Fighter Scholarship awards $1000 to up to 10 high school seniors who have been leaders in the fight against cancer.
We believe that "cancer fighters" can come in a number of forms. Some have battled cancer themselves. Some help a loved one or friend through their own fight. Some have been leaders in their school and community in the fight against cancer.
How to Apply
Eligibility Requirements
You must be a graduating senior from a public or private high school planning to attend a post-high school institution (two or four year college, vocational or technical school) within the United States. Financial need is not considered.
Our Application
1. Create a video showcasing (1) how you’ve been a cancer fighter, and (2) what you’ve learned from the fight.
Be creative and have fun making your video! You must include "Peace out, cancer" at the end of your video in order to be eligible.
All video submissions must be created by you and the content must be appropriate for publication on SMAC’s website. Video must be 60 - 90 seconds long, no more than 50 MB in size, and submitted in one of the following formats: .mov, .mp4, .mpg, .mpeg, .avi, .mwv. Video must not infringe on third-party rights.
2. Complete our (super) brief online application.
We're asking for pretty basic stuff: your contact info, your high school's contact info, current GPA, college targets, and a list of your extracurricular activities.
You'll upload your video through this application too!
3. Submit everything online by our deadline.
Applications for the 2024 cycle were due April 1, 2024 at 11:59pm (PT). The deadline for the 2025 cycle will be announced this winter.
