We are thrilled to highlight the amazing work undertaken by the Union Catholic High School SMAC Chapter during the 2019-2020 school year. Chapter advisor Mike Conte explained that UC’s SMAC chapter undertook a wide array of activities in the fight against cancer, even in the face of Covid shutdowns. UC has set an incredible example for the entire SMAC community, and we thank them for all of their efforts! Some of the highlights of the chapter’s activities include:
Writing cards and letters to children fighting cancer to cheer them up during the pandemic
Purchasing items for 25 chemo care bags to help bring comfort to people going through chemotherapy treatments
Collecting pasta and cereal for the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation's food pantry and soda tabs for the Ronald McDonald House
Distributing 100 Build-A-Bears to the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation, Newark Beth Israel Children's Hospital, and the Valerie Fund
